What is this blog?

The RutgersZone is a revolutionary new space located in the Livingston Student Center on the Livingston Campus of Rutgers University. The space includes games like Skee-Ball and Pool, an array of HD Satellite televisions and a full-service ice cream/soda shop.

In addition to creating a unique experience on campus for Rutgers students, the RutgersZone also aims to develop life and leadership skills of the staff members working in the space.

This blog, the RutgersZone Experiment, is a chronicle of this ground-breaking experience being shared by seven undergraduate student managers and one professional staff general manager. These students are being tasked with working as a team to create an unmatched on-campus experience for our guests, learning to become effective managers and constantly "pushing the envelope" for what is expected on a college campus. As a part of their employment experience, each student manager is asked to blog at least once per week about the processes associated with opening this space or developing as a manger.

Welcome to the RutgersZone Experiment!

Buzztime Partayy!!!!

*Yawns and stretches dramatically, (as if just waking up)* Wow RutgersZone Manager’s Blog how have you been? It’s been a while huh? Well I'd like to restart our friendship by telling you, and our faithful readers, about the Epic Buzztime Party!
During one of our Wednesday meetings Greg dropped a surprise by telling us that Buzztime wanted to sponsor an official Buzztime party for the RutgersZone. Yayyy!!! They would supply extra cash for apps, and prizes to be given out through the night.
The night of the party I was a little afraid in the beginning. I was on shift and I wanted to make sure every playmaker was taken. We had officials from Buzztime watching us so I wanted to make a good impression. Luckily our regular players and more showed up and satisfied my goal. From there it was all up to us to provide good entertainment and food. The night went as usual. We prepared appetizers, I hosted (mainly because I like to talk *Kanye Shrug*), and gave out drinks. Since Buzztime was sponsoring us we were able to give out more food than usually so people were enjoying themselves as they ordered a lot of appetizers and ice cream.
Throughout the game we handed out Buzztime shirts, hats, and Applebee's gift cards. To choose winners of the shirts and hats, we started off by giving them to people who won the trivia round. Then we asked Buzztime related and Rutgers related trivia, and whoever answered correctly received a hat or shirt. The Applebee's gift cards were given to people who answered tough Buzztime related Trivia (such as how many offices does Buzztime have throughout the country). It was kind of hectic throughout the night but it was fun. In the end the ladies from Buzztime were impressed and happy with the results of the night, and that in turn made me happy.
To all of you readers who have never played Buzztime before, you should come to The RutgersZone on Wednesdays at 9 for the competition.

Phylisha =)
